Ice Wolves Invade Flin Flon

By Flin Flon Bombers, 11/12/13, 2:00PM CST

The Sherwood Division 's first place Ice Wolves visit the Whitney Forum tonight for the first of a home and home series with the Bombers.

The .500 season continues for the Flin Flon Bombers after their split with the Humboldt Broncos this past weekend.

The annual Flin Flon Bombers Parents Weekend had the team defeat the Broncos 3-2 on Friday but get shutout by them on Saturday.  The team was without their two leading point getters in Cam Blair (injury) and Brett Boehm (Prospects Game), but despite that, Humboldt played a great weekend against the home team.

“They (Humboldt) played a great road game on Saturday,” said Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan, “they played us tough and we have to move on from that.”

The team now shifts their attention to the visiting first place La Ronge Ice Wolves for the first of a home and home series that begins tonight at the Whitney Forum, their first meeting of the 2013-14 season.

The Ice Wolves shocked some people in the SJHL community, bursting out of the gates winning six straight to start the season and seven of their first ten.  Since then they have come back down to earth but still sit in first place, tied with the Nipawin Hawks, with a 10-7-0 record.

The team is lead by 1993 born forward Sebastien Beauregard, who sits tied for second in the SJHL with 23 points (15g, 8a) and has only been held of the score sheet three times this season.   Michael Sagen, who came over from the Melville Millionaires, has 18 points (7g, 11a) and Owen LaClare (10g, 5) and Jared Iron (5g, 10a) each have 15 points.

Goalie Tyler Fuhr, who has WHL experience with the Vancouver Giants, has been steady in the Wolves net with a 2.79 goals against average and a 0.917 save percentage.

The Bombers will look to gain some ground in the tight Sherwood Divison race with two games against the Wolves in the two days but it will be a little tough with newly named Captain Cam Blair our of the lineup for some time with an Upper Body injury.  Back in the lineup will be Brett Boehm, who was away for the weekend series against the Broncos, as he was playing in the CJHL Prospects Game in Nova Scotia.

The team will be in La Ronge tomorrow and then hit the road on Saturday for Melville before playing Yorkton on Sunday in Yorkton.
