Couldn't Break The Glass

By Flin Flon Bombers, 10/30/13, 7:30AM CDT

Nipawin's Steven Glass was perfect, as his Hawks shutout the Bombers 3-0.

For the second time is three games, the Flin Flon Bombers were shutout, this time by Steven Glass and the Nipawin Hawks who defeated the Bombers 3-0.

SJHL leading scorer Tad Kozun and his line mates, Carter Coben and Tayler Balog, were in on all three goals with Coben picking up two, both in the first period, as the Hawks took a 2-0 lead into the second.

Balog would score the final goal of the game, shorthanded, just past the midway point of the second period.

Goalie Devin Buffalo was on his game again, stopping 54 of the 57 shots fired his way by the Hawks, 28 of them in the third period alone.

Each time the Hawks scored, Flin Flon would come right back with pressur, but Glass was solid in the pipes for his first SJHL win in over a year, when he was with the Estevan Bruins.

The rivalry heated up in the third period with 84 minutes in penalties handed out in the final period, 40 of them with less than 40 second left.

The Bombers continue their road trip tonight when they visit the Humboldt Broncos before a week break.

ICE CHIPS: Flin Flon was 0 for 6 last night while the Bruins was 0 for 4.  Estevan also scored a shorthanded goal, Taylor Balog’s sixth of the season in the second period.  ---  This is the third time Flin Flon has been shutout this season.  They were scorless in the first game of the year against the Melfort Mustangs and were recently shutout against the Estevan Bruins.  Last season the team was shutout three times all season.  ---  The game was delayed in the second for a period of time as one of the gates in the arena boards was broken and needed repair.
