Two road games, two road losses. The Flin Flon Bombers continued their four games in five nights road trip last night, and for the second straight night the team suffered a loss, this time to Notre Dame 3-0.
Notre Dame (4-3-0-1) would score two in the first and one more late in the third into an empty net to give Flin Flon (8-2-0-0) their second loss of the season after opening up with eight straight wins.
Carson Grolla would open things up four minutes into the opening frame before Paul Brisebois scored his second of the season with just over thirty seconds left in the first. Notre Dame outshot the Bombers 13-6 in the opening period.
Overall the Hounds would outshoot the Bombers 34-19 as goalie Devin Buffalo had to stand tall for the second straight game, making some key saves to keep his team in the game.
Flin Flon was unable to gain any momentum, taking some costly penalties keeping them shorthanded, most of them coming in the second period. Overall the Hounds were unable to score on eight chances compared to Flin Flon’s three.
“We didn’t have another great effort tonight,” said Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan. “They came out flying and were unable to match it. Tomorrow couldn’t come any faster.”
The Bombers have a day off before they finish up the road swing Friday in Weyburn and Saturday in Estevan.
