Bombers open up their four game road trip with a loss to Yorkton.

Terriers Snap Flin Flon's Winning Streak

By Flin Flon Bombers, 10/17/12, 8:30AM CDT

The streak is over!

Yorkton’s Zak Majkowski had two goals and an assist, and the Terrier’s scored three goals in the second, helping them hand the Flin Flon Bombers their first loss of the season, 4-2.  For the Bombers (8-1-0-0), it was their first game on a four game road trip.

Dillan McCombie opened the scoring 13:15 into the first period before Majkowski tied things up with: 26 seconds left, shorthanded.

After the three goals in the second for Yorkton, Brett Penner rounded out the scoring late in the third, on the powerplay, to bridge the lead to two.

Next up for the Bombers is the second game of the road trip, tonight in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds.

Ice Chips:  The power play unit was cold last night; the team went 1 for 7 while the Terriers were 1 for 5.  They also allowed a shorthanded goal; Majkowski’s first of the game late in the first which seemed to give the Terriers the advantage going into the second. --- Brett Penner’s goal late in the third was his second since returning to the Bombers lineup.  He has three points in his three games so far. --- Former Flin Flon Bomber Andrew Johnston has cracked the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL, the highest affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.  Johnston, who played last year for the Humboldt Broncos, is pointless in his two games so far.
