Flin Flon Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Flin Flon Bombers completed a very successful road trip down south winning three games and losing just once.

The Bombers kicked off the road trip with a 2-0 victory over the Yorkton Terriers. Rookie goaltender Kenneth Marquart made 21 saves for his second shutout of the season. Forward Barron Stibbe scored his first career SJHL goal and Zach Cain was the other Bomber goal scorer.

The next night the Bombers would lose 4-1 to the red hot Weyburn Red Wings. Forward Jacob Vockler would open the scoring with his 12th of the season to give the Bombers their only lead of the game. The Red Wings would go on to score four unanswered goals as they continue to push for a playoff spot.

On Saturday night it was a rematch of the 2022 SJHL final between the Bombers and Estevan Bruins in arguably one of the most exciting games of the 2022-2023 season. The Bombers would storm out of the gate with a 5-2 lead after the opening period. Jeremi Tremblay, Alexi Sylvestre (2) and Cole Duperreault (2) were the goal scorers. However the Bruins would chip away and tie the game at six a piece late in the third period with the extra attacker on the ice. Zach Cain would spoil the Bruins late comeback with the overtime winner with just eighteen seconds remaining.

The Bombers would cap off the road trip with a solid 3-1 win over the Notre Dame Hounds. All four goals were scored in the first period with Cole Duperreault, Kylynn Olafson and local product Joey Lies scoring in the win. Duperreault’s marker was his 100th career SJHL regular season point in his 100th career SJHL regular season game.

Flin Flon now sits at the top of the Sherwood Division and in second place overall with a 30-12-2-1 record.
