The Bombers hosted the red-hot Weyburn Red Wings for a pair of games this weekend at the Whitney Forum. Red Wings goaltender Angelo Zol was the difference on Friday night, helping the Red Wings defeat the Bombers 2-1. Zol stopped 41 shots and is now 5-0 in his last five starts. In the other net, Bombers goaltender Kenneth Marquart was solid making 23 saves. Carter Cormier scored his 4th of the season in the loss.
On Saturday night the Bombers put themselves in a deep hole after giving up the first two goals early in the first period. Weyburn would extend their lead to 3-0 in the second period before Koen Senft cut the deficit to two near the half-way mark of the final frame. The Red Wings held on for their seventh straight win in the 4-1 victory over the Bombers. Red Wings goaltender Dazza Mitchell was rock solid making 41 saves. Meanwhile Jake Torget’s record as a Bomber fell to 0-2 after facing 24 shots.
The Bombers five game homestand continues next week when they host the SJHL leading Yorkton Terriers.
