The Bombers lone game of the week was a successful one as the team defeated the SJHL leading Melfort Mustangs 4-0 in front of nearly 1000 fans at the Whitney Forum. Keefe Gruener led the Bombers offensively with a hat-trick and goaltender Matthew Kieper stopped just 24 shots for his 3rd shutout in the last 10 days.
The win now puts the Bombers just 2 points behind the Mustangs for 1st place in the overall standings. However the Mustangs do have 3 games in hand.
Earlier in the week, Gruener, Kieper, Ryder Ringor, Anthony Piccininno, Koen Senft, Luke Lepper and Liam Hunks attended the annual SJHL/MJHL Showcase in Winnipeg. In 2 games, Piccininno led the Bomber players in scoring with 3 points. Gruener also found the back of the net in Winnipeg. Kieper had 1 start in net and made 29 saves in the teams 5-1 loss.
The Bombers are back in action on Tuesday night when the team travels to Nipawin to take on the Hawks.
