This past week, the Bombers finished off the first half of the season with two games against the La Ronge Ice Wolves. On Friday night in La Ronge, the first period was a close one with both teams coming out hard and ready to play. Basically going shot for shot, both goalies were holding their own until the final minute in the first period, where Jacob Vockler scored on the powerplay to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead into the intermission. Coming out for the second period was a lot of the same. Both teams were fairly even on the shots and it wasn’t until the final minute of the period, where Jacob Vockler scored another goal, this time from the left circle to make it a 2-0 game. In the start of the third period, the Ice Wolves came out with a quick power play goal to close the deficit and make it a 2-1 game. Shortly after though, the Bombers, Justin Lies, answered back with a shorthanded breakaway goal to make it 3-1. Then near the end of the third, Lies was able to get another one on an empty net to make it 4-1 and win the game

The Bombers outshot the Ice Wolves 49 to 44. Harmon Laser-Hume stopped 43/44 shots. The Bomber went 1/5 on the powerplay and stopped La Ronge 5 out of 6 times on the penalty kill.

The following night at the Whitney Forum, the Bombers came out hot in front of the home crowd. Despite putting on tons of shots, the Bombers and the Ice Wolves were not able to score in the first period. It was in the second period, where the Bombers caught fire and got the scoring going. The first goal of the game was by Alexi Sylvestre 4 minutes into the second period. Then two more goals came from Justin Lies and Carter Anderson to make it a 3-0 game. No more goals were scored in the period and the Ice Wolves found themselves down 3 going into the third. The Bombers continued to pile on the pressure in the third and got the periods lone goal, coming from Anthony Piccininno to take the 4-0 win  and end off the 2023 year.

Kenneth Marquart recorded a 24 save shutout. The Bombers went 1/9 on the powerplay and stopped La Ronge all 5 times on the penalty kill.

Overall, the Bombers now sit at 28-1-2 for the season and are on a 9 game win streak. They currently sit at #1 overall in the SJHL with 58 points and are the #1 Ranked CJHL team for the eighth week in a row.

The Bombers next game is Friday, January 5th, 2024 against the Nipawin Hawks at the Whitney Forum.
