This is your Flin Flon Bombers Week Preview Powered by Elite Communications.
The Flin Flon Bombers get set for one of their busiest weeks of the year as the team will travel down south to take on four different opponents.
First on the list is the undefeated Yorkton Terriers (4-0-0-0) on Tuesday night. The Terriers are an offensive juggernauht with an SJHL leading twenty-two goals scored in just four games. The top line of Jaron Desnoyers, Jeff Hammond and William Leonard have a combined twenty-six points and are an early season candidate for top line in the league. Former Bomber, Ethan Farrow has been sharp in net posting a 3-0 record along with a sparkling 2.00 GAA & .934 SV%. After the Terriers 6-2 win in Humboldt this past weekend, the Terriers have made a statement that they are for real.
The following night the Bombers will travel to Wilcox, Saskatchewan to take on the Notre Dame Hounds (0-4-0-0). The Hounds have struggled out of the gate posting an 0-4 record. It’s still very early in the season but the Hounds will need to shore up their defensive play as they currently lead the SJHL with twenty-two goals against in four games. Forwards Ian Buors and Neka Jean are off to great starts to their SJHL careers as both forwards are sitting tied in the top two in rookie scoring.
The Bombers third game of the road trip is the against the Weyburn Red Wings (0-3-0-0). The Red Wings are another team off to a slow start despite having fairly high expectations heading into the season. The team boosts arguably the top goaltending tandem in the SJHL with Dazza Mitchell and Angelo Zol. The Red Wings are looking to build off of last season’s thrilling seven game series against the Humboldt Broncos in the Quarter-Final. Goals have been hard to come by for the Red Wings with just five in three games.
The road trip will wrap up in Estevan on Saturday night. The Bruins (0-3-0-0) have just four returning players from last season’s squad however they have been very busy acquiring players within the last three weeks. The team has made additions on the blue line with Kieran Ronan coming over from the NAHL’s Aberdeen Wings and Bo Doxtator from the CCHL’s Nepean Raiders. Despite having zero points in his first three games, former BCHLer Kent Moors should be a top point producer in this league.
