The Bombers will look to get back into the win column this weekend with a pair of games against another Sherwood Division rival, the La Ronge Ice Wolves. The Bombers will host the Ice Wolves on Friday night at the Whitney Forum and then will travel to La Ronge on Saturday to complete the two game series.
La Ronge will look to build off of their successful opening weekend picking up three out of a possible four points. The Ice Wolves dropped their home opener 3-2 in overtime to Melfort before defeating Nipawin on the road by a score of 3-2. La Ronge will rely heavily on the duo of Mason Bueckert and Jacob Cossette to provide offence. Goaltenders Logan Falk and Graham Brown split both games and played well so expect both Falk and Brown to appear in net this weekend against the Bombers.
The Bombers also split the opening weekend defeating Nipawin 4-3 and then falling to Melfort 6-2. If the Bombers want to have success this weekend, they will need to clean up their special teams. In the opening weekend the Bombers converted on just 10% of their power play opportunities. Meanwhile the Bombers penalty kill struggled at 62.5%.
