The annual SJHL Showcase is set to begin today at the Legends Centre in Warman, Saskatchewan.
The Bombers will face the Viterra Division’s Weyburn Red Wings and Melville Millionaires at the showcase.
Weyburn’s confidence couldn’t be any higher at the moment after dismantling the Estevan Bruins 9-2 on Friday night. Red Wings forward Kirk Mullen currently sits in second overall in SJHL scoring with 7 points in just 3 games. Goaltender Dazza Mitchell is also off to a great start, posting a 2.01 GAA & .934 SV%.
Some have predicted that Melville might take the biggest leap forward after missing the playoffs last season. The Millionaires are led by forward Noah Wills who is expected to challenge for the SJHL scoring crown this season. Wills currently has 5 points in 3 games.
Later in the week the Bombers will host a pair of games against the Nipawin Hawks and Humboldt Broncos. The Bombers will look to even up the season series against Nipawin after the Hawks defeated them earlier this month.
Although Humboldt has lost plenty of key players from last season, they’re off to a great start with a 3-0 record.
