Heading into the final stretch of the regular season things continue to get interesting in the SJHL standings. Just 11 points separates from 2nd place all the way to 7th place with the Bombers currently sitting in 4th place with 51 points. The Bombers do have a game in hand on the Humboldt Broncos and 5 games in hand on the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

The Bombers have 3 games (2 Home, 1 Away) this week beginning on Tuesday night in Melfort. The Mustangs are currently in 6th place with a 20-12-5-2 record. The Bombers lead the season series 3-1 with the Bombers taking the last contest 5-4 in overtime.

Melfort sits in the top 5 in goals for (143) and goals against (110) and also has the league’s best penalty kill (85.4%).

It will then be a rematch of the SJHL final from a year ago, as the Bombers host Estevan in a pair of games on the weekend. The Bombers and Bruins have played each other just once this season with the Bruins winning 8-6 back in October. Estevan currently sits in 5th place overall and are just 2 points back of the Bombers. The Bruins returned just 6 players from last years championship squad and still find themselves in the mix with the league’s elite.
