Flin Flon Bombers Week Preview: Powered By Elite Communications

The 2022-2023 SJHL regular season is less than a week away.

The Flin Flon Bombers will host the Melfort Mustangs on Friday, September 16th to kick off the SJHL season.

The Melfort Mustangs finished 3rd overall in the overall standings last season and were able to claim the Sherwood Division title over the Bombers. The Mustangs return starting goaltender Joel Favreau and have upwards to 5 blueliners with junior experience. Up front the Mustangs will lean heavily on the trio of Ben Tkachuk, Trenton Curtis and Dawson Leroux. Tkachuk will be entering his 4th season of junior hockey and is expected to finish in the top 5 in SJHL scoring. Forward Riley Ashe is another player to keep an eye for as he is currently the only 2006 born player on the Mustangs roster.

On Saturday, September 17th, the Bombers will then travel to Nipawin to take on the Hawks. Nipawin finished near the bottom of the SJHL standings last season but the future is bright. The Hawks have at least 15 players on their roster with junior experience. Newly acquired Bombers goaltender, Harmon Laser-Hume will potentially get the opportunity to face his former team. Laser-Hume was acquired by the Bombers from Nipawin last week in exchange for a player development fee.

Season tickets are available to be picked up starting today at the Bomber office from 4:00-7:00 PM.
