This is your Flin Flon Bombers Week Preview Powered by Elite Communications.
Former Bomber Dawson Karol and the Kindersley Klippers will visit the Whitney Forum this weekend for a pair of games. Since joining the Klippers in an off-season trade, Karol leads the Klippers with 18 goals in 35 games. Kindersley is currently 6-0-0-1 in their previous 7 games and are sitting in 6th place with a 19-15-1-1 record.
The Klippers were one of the busier teams at the trade deadline, acquiring lethal right-winger Mason Bueckert from the La Ronge Ice Wolves and defenceman Thomas Phillips from the Northern Manitoba Blizzard. Bueckert currently has 34 points in 36 games this season after putting up over 60 points last season.
The Bombers made just 2 moves ahead of the trade deadline, acquiring SJHL veteran defenceman Liam Hunks from the Notre Dame Hounds in exchange for forward Evin Bossel, defenceman Wylie Smith, prospect Brennan Brown and a player development fee. Hunks scored in his debut with the Bombers and helped the team defeat the Humboldt Broncos twice. The Bombers moved out defenceman Nathan Schaefer to the MJHL’s Virden Oil Capitals in the other move in exchange for Cole Slobodian’s CJHL rights and a player development fee. Slobodian is currently with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks.
The Bombers have points in 19 straight games and are currently sitting in 2nd place with a 23-9-2-1 record.
