After dispatching the Humboldt Broncos in six games, the Bombers now turn their sights on the Viterra Division winning Weyburn Red Wings. The Red Wings also wrapped up their first round series in six games against the Battlefords North Stars.
The Red Wings are an offensive juggernaut, averaging the second most goals-per-game average with 3.9 during the regular season. Forwards Jerome Maharaj and Ethan DeKay finished in the top ten in SJHL scoring with 65 and 58 points. Maharaj had the second most power play assists in the league with 23. The only player who finished with more was his teammate Max Chakrabarti with 25. Chakrabarti led all SJHL blueliners in scoring with 50 points in 56 games and was named the SJHL rookie of the year. Red Wings goaltender Angelo Zol led all SJHL goaltenders in shutouts with five.
In the series against the North Stars, the Red Wings won an impressive three games on the road and Maharaj continued his hot play putting up six points.
The Red Wings won the season series against the Bombers going 3-1 with a pair of wins at the Whitney Forum. This will be the first playoff meeting between the two clubs since 2019 when the Bombers swept the Red Wings in the survivor series.
