Cole Vardy Named SJHL Defenceman of the Month

The Flin Flon Bombers have the two top-scoring defensemen in the SJHL in Vardy and Xavier Lapointe, but the slight edge in player voting went to Vardy.
The 3rd year Bomber logs a massive number of minutes, while leading all defensemen in points on a Bombers team that is tied for first place in the SJHL.
His 5 goals, 8 assists, and 3 powerplay goals are all first place among d-men in the league. The Bombers +20 goal differential is third in the SJHL, meaning they keep the puck out of their net, just as well as filling their oppositions. Vardy has definitively played a key role in both aspects.

Xavier Lapointe was named runner up for the award. Lapointe currently has 13 points (6g, 7a) in 18 games this season. Also, goaltender Cal Schell was named runner up for SJHL goaltender of the month. Schell’s 9 wins currently rank 2nd among SJHL goaltenders while his 3 shut outs are an SJHL best. Humboldt’s Rayce Ramsay was named the SJHL goaltender of the month
