Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Flin Flon Bombers were able to come away with 4 out of a possible 6 points this week. The team continues to push for a Sherwood Division title and 3rd place overall in the SJHL standings.

On Tuesday night, Cal Schell made 29 saves for his 7th shut out of the season. This would break a Bombers record for shut outs in a single season, which was previously held by Zac Robidoux who had 6 during the 2016-17 season. The Bombers defeated the Nipawin Hawks 4-0 and got goals from Zak Smith (2), Jacob Vockler and Drew Kuzma.

This past weekend the Bombers had a home and away series against the La Ronge Ice Wolves which began Friday night in La Ronge. Ice Wolves goaltender, Xavier Cannon, made 52 saves on 53 shots to lead the way for a 4-1 win for the Ice Wolves. Drew Kuzma had the lone Bomber goal, which was a power play marker in the 2nd period.

The same two teams were back in action last night in Flin Flon but this time the Bombers were able to come away with a 5-3 win over the Ice Wolves. Cole Duperreault (2), Brett Wieschorster, Xavier Lapointe and Zak Smith were the Bomber goal scorers. Kuzma had a pair of assists in the win and now has 11 points (5g, 6a) in his last 7 games.

The Bombers currently sit in 2nd place in the Sherwood Division, trailing Melfort by 2 points. The Bombers have a game in hand on the Mustangs. Both teams are set to square off next week with the Sherwood Division title up for grabs.
