Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Bombers made a flurry of moves this week.  Goaltender Max Hildebrand (04) was re-assigned from the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders. Hildebrand was drafted in the 4th round by the Bombers in the 2019 SJHL Draft. On the backend, the Bombers have added Cory King (02). King has spent the last 2 seasons in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors and most recently with the Seattle Thunderbirds.

On Friday the Bombers acquired forward Zak Smith (01) from the Neepawa Titans of the MJHL in exchange for Drayden Kurbatoff (02) and a player development fee. Smith had spent the last 3 seasons in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels. Kurbatoff was then moved to the OCN Blizzard.

The Flin Flon Bombers completed the home and home series sweep of the La Ronge Ice Wolves last night. Earlier this week, the Bombers had lost to Nipawin 4-1 with Cole Duperreault scoring the lone goal for the Bombers.

On Friday night, the Bombers fired 55 shots on Ice Wolves goaltender Dawson Smith and came away with a 7-4 win. Jeremi Tremblay and Gabriel Shipper scored their first career SJHL goals. Nathan Gagne had a pair of goals while Cole Vardy, Xavier Lapointe and Jaeden Mercier added singles. Cal Schell made 25 saves for the win.

Max Hildebrand got the start in net last night and he made 29 saves for his first career SJHL win improving the Bombers record to 3-2. Reece Richmond scored his first career SJHL goal on the power play. Nathan Gagne and Jaeden Mercier had multipoint games. Ice Wolves forward Nolan Doell chipped in with a goal and an assist in the loss.

The Bombers will travel to Saskatoon this afternoon for the annual SJHL showcase.
