Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

After a great performance in Kindersley earlier this week the Bombers wrapped up a disappointing weekend against the La Ronge Ice Wolves only getting 1 out of 4 points.

On Tuesday night the Bombers played arguably the teams most complete game all season defeating the Kindersley 4-0. Goaltender Ben Montgomery made 22 saves for his 1st career SJHL shutout. Forward Jaeden Mercier led the way offensively for the Bombers recording a goal and 2 assists. Meanwhile, Brett Wieschorster and Xavier Lapoint had 2 points each. The Bombers outshot the Klippers 52-22 and dominated right from puck drop.

The Bombers and La Ronge had a home and home series this past weekend beginning Friday night in Flin Flon. The Bombers led 2-0 in the 1st period on goals from Cole Tanchuk and Jaxon Martens but the resilient Ice Wolves clawed their way back to tie the game. Jacob Vockler gave the Bombers the lead less than 2 minutes into the 3rd period but the Ice Wolves would find a late power play goal to send this game into overtime. Ice Wolves forward Aaron Greyeyes scored the overtime winner just 45 seconds into the extra frame.

Last night La Ronge carried the momentum from their thrilling 4-3 overtime win from the previous night and completed the weekend sweep with a 4-1 win. Brett Wieschorster was the lone goal scorer for the Bombers. Aaron Greyeyes and Holden Knights continued their hot play against the Bombers with Greyeyes chipping in with 2 assists and Knights adding a goal.

The Bombers will look to respond quickly as the team will head down south to play 4 games in 5 nights beginning Tuesday in Yorkton.
