The Flin Flon Bombers prepare for 3 games this week, beginning tomorrow night in Nipawin. The Hawks and Bombers faced off on September 28th with the Hawks taking a 4-1 win in Flin Flon. Nipawin is currently 5-2-0-0 and sit in 3rd place in the Sherwood Division, trailing the Bombers by 2 points with 2 games in hand. Forward Phil Laberge sits 2nd in SJHL rookie scoring and is tied for 6th overall in the league with 10 points (2g, 8a) in 7 games. Evan Bortis is tied for 2nd in SJHL defencemen scoring with 6 points (2g, 4a) in 7 games. Flin Flon’s Cole Vardy and Xavier Lapointe are currently tied for 1st in SJHL defencemen scoring with 7 points each.

Later in the week the Bombers host the Melville Millionaires (1-2-2-0) for a pair of home games at the Whitney Forum on Friday and Saturday. Millionaires captain, Jonathan Krahn, is a player to keep an eye on. Krahn currently has 4 points (1g, 3a) in 5 games this season.

Bombers goaltender Cal Schell has been named SJHL Goalie of the Week. The 20 year old from Burlington, Ontario, posted back to back shutouts including a 45 save performance at the SJHL showcase earlier last week. Schell faced 71 shots in his 2 starts against the Yorkton Terriers and Kindersley Klippers.
