Bombers Take 3-1 Series Lead On Broncos: Powered By HUDBAY

After stealing games 1 & 2 on the road in Humboldt last weekend, the Bombers and Broncos split games 3 & 4 this weekend at the Whitney Forum.

On Friday night in front of 1500 plus fans, the Bombers would defeat the Broncos 1-0 on a goal from Matt Raymond late in the 1st period from a beautiful setup by Jacob Vockler. Both goaltenders played extremely well for their clubs with Cal Schell making 33 saves for the shutout and Rayce Ramsay making 37 saves in the loss. Flin Flon was 0 for 5 on the power play and the Broncos were 0 for 4 with the man advantage.

Last night Humboldt was able to stave off elimination with a 3-2 overtime win in game 4. After missing game 3, Broncos forward Lucas Ceccarelli would open the scoring. Humboldt would make it 2-0 on Matthew Perkin’s 1st of the playoffs. Drew Kuzma would get the Bombers on the board at the midway point of the 2nd period with his team leading 6th of the playoffs. Down 2-1 with under a minute remaining in regulation, Jaeden Mercier would send the game to overtime with just 5.9 seconds remaining in the 3rd period. The Bombers comeback would fall just short as Broncos captain Kade Olsen would score the biggest goal of his SJHL career in overtime to keep Humboldt’s season alive.

Game 5 of the best-of-seven series is Tuesday night at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt. The Bombers lead the series 3-1.
