BOMBERS GET 7 OUT OF POSSIBLE 8 POINTS ON THE ROAD
The Flin Flon Bombers came out of their southern 4 games in 5 night road swing with 7 of a possible 8 points.
Things started off in Humboldt Wednesday night with a shoot-out lose. The Bombers were able to rally from a 2 goal deficit late in the 2nd period, with Brandson Hein (Winnipeg, MB) scored to cut the Bronco lead in half.
With under 8 minutes to play in the 3rd, Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, AK, USA) tied the game.
Humboldts Dane Dow stood strong in net for Humboldt in the shoot-out, and Owen Guenter (Dewinton, AB) scored the lone shoot-out goal to end the game.
Next up Flin Flon met up with the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox. Hein would again open the scoring on a shorthanded goal. The Hounds would tie it up just under a minute later, but that would be all the scoring for the Hounds in this game.
Peirce Diamond (Edmonton, AB) was perfect the rest of the way. Rookie Billy Klymchuk (Winnipeg, MB), Caleb Moretz, and Calvon Boots (Fairbanks, AK, USA) would add goals for the Bombers.
After a day off, the Bombers continued south on highway 39 for a date with the Weyburn Redwings. Weyburn went up by 2 goals in the first, and looked to be in full control of the game.
Chrystopher Collin (Bois De Filion, PQ), opened up the flood gates, scoring the Bombers first of 5 unanswered goals.
Daylan Marchi (Lethbridge, AB) had 2 goals, Nate Hooper (Winnipeg, MB), and Vincent Nardone (Rosemere, PQ) would add singles, before Marchi netted his third of the night to complete the hatrick.
Peirce Diamond kicked away 25 of 28 shots faced.
In keeping the Red Wing/Bomber rivalry alive, the last minute of the game gave the home town Weyburn fans their monies worth. In total, 12 players were ejected in an end of the game show down.
Both Goalies squared off, and a slew of fights broke out. Multiple misconducts and fines were handed out, as well as suspensions. Check out www.sjhl.ca for full details.
Sunday would have the Bombers complete the highway 39 southern trip, with a visit to Estevan and the beautiful Affinity Place. Billy Klymchuk would open the scoring in the first period, but Estevan would tie it up, and it would stay that way for the remainder of the first.
Chrystopher Collin would start a 4 goal Bomber explosion just past the midpoint of the frame, with Brandson Hein, Collin again, and Bomber captain Nate Hooper. Estevan would sneak another one past rookie net minder Jacob Delorme (Drummondville, PQ), but that would be the last one to get behind him.
Dawson Mackenzie (Winnipeg, MB) would round out the scoring in a convincing road win for the Bombers.
Next action for the Flin Flon Bombers is Friday night at the Whitney Forum, where they will face off against the Yorkton Terriers.
