Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

Bombers Force Game 5

After dropping the first three games of the series to Weyburn, the Bombers were able to stave off elimination with a big 5-1 win in Game 4 to force a Game 5 back in Flin Flon on Saturday night.

The previous night it looked like much of the same in Games 1 and 2 with the Red Wings stabilizing the Bombers offensive attack and holding them to just one goal. The Bombers got a late power play goal by Leighton Carruthers but in the end, Weyburn was able to skate away with a 4-1 win giving themselves a 3-0 series lead.

With their backs up against the wall the Bombers put together their best effort of the series. For the first time in the series the Bombers were able to score first off of a goal by Keefe Gruener. Carter Cormier and affiliate player Eric Han extended the Bombers lead to 3-0. Weyburn would get a late goal towards the end of the second period but the Bombers would add two more in the third from Anthony Piccininno and Ryder Ringor.

The Bombers now have an opportunity to extend the series on Saturday night in Flin Flon.
