The best-of-seven series between the Bombers and Bruins is set to begin on Friday, March 17th in Flin Flon. The rest of the schedule will be announced tomorrow.
The last time the Bombers and Bruins met in the SJHL playoffs, it was Estevan defeating Flin Flon in game 7 of the SJHL finals last season. The Bombers won the season series 3-1 (8-6 L, 5-1 W, 3-1 W & 7-6 OTW).
The Bombers finished at the top of the Sherwood Division with a 37-15-2-2 record. The Bruins also finished first in their division posting a 27-23-2-1 record (Estevan has one regular season game remaining).
Between the pipes, Bombers starting goaltender Harmon Laser-Hume was second in wins (28) and shutouts (4). Laser-Hume’s 2.57 GAA was fourth best among all SJHL goaltenders. Estevan’s Cam Hrdlicka led all SJHL goaltenders with 5 shutouts and was third in wins with 21.
Bombers defenceman Alex Von Sprecken is a product of Estevan and was acquired from the Bruins back in October. Von Sprecken was a member of Estevan’s championship team from last season.
