The SJHL Semi-Final series between the Flin Flon Bombers and Weyburn Red Wings started up this past weekend and the Red Wings were able to come away with two wins at the Whitney Forum.
In Game 1 the Bombers got off to a rocky start and had a hard time adjusting to Weyburn’s incredible speed and pace as the Red Wings found themselves up 3-0 after just the first period. The SJHL’s leading playoff scorer Ryder Ringor, continued his hot play and got the Bombers on the board in the second period but that was as close as the Bombers would get. The Red Wings extended their lead to 4-1 and that would wrap up Game 1.
The following night did not start much better for the Bombers as the Red Wings were off to the races right from puck drop and had a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. The Red Wings added two more goals and Leighton Carruthers return to the lineup was spoiled as the Red Wings would take Game 2 by the same 4-1 score. Carruthers was the lone Bomber goal scorer in the loss.
With the two wins, the Red Wings improved their record to 4-0 this season at the Whitney Forum.
The series now shifts to Weyburn for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
