Bombers Down Humboldt Broncos, Go Up 2-0 In Series: Powered By HUDBAY

The Bombers return to Flin Flon with a 2-0 series lead over the Humboldt Broncos after a pair of road wins this past weekend.

In Game 1 of the SJHL Semi-Finals, the Bombers got a pair of power play goals by Reece Richmond and Jaeden Mercier to take a 2-0 lead heading into the third period. Braiden Koran would get the Broncos on the board with a power play marker to cut the deficit to 1. Drew Kuzma would put the game away with an empty net goal for a Bombers 3-1 win. Goaltender Cal Schell would make 36 saves for his 5th win of the playoffs.

In Game 2, Jerzy Orchard gave the Broncos the first lead of the game until Drew Kuzma would tie it up just 30 seconds later. Bombers captain Zak Smith would break the tie early in the third period with his third of the playoffs. The SJHL’s leading scorer during the regular season, Connor McGrath, would get his first of the playoffs to send this game into overtime. At the 9:15 mark, Kuzma would get his second of the night to give the Bombers a 3-2 win and 2-0 series lead over the Bombers.

Games 3 & 4 are set for Friday, April 8th and Saturday, April 9th at the Whitney Forum.
