Bombers Clean House in Weekly Awards

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Brandson Hein, Flin Flon Bombers
1998 F Brandson Hein (Winnipeg MB) rattled off 3-goals and 4-assists during a 4-game road trip this week as the Bombers emerged 3-0-and-1 during the grueling stretch.  Hein scored in a shootout loss to Humboldt, picked up a goal and two assists in a win at Notre Dame, added two more assists on Saturday in Weyburn, and finished the week with a goal at Estevan on Sunday.  For the season, Hein has 13-goals and 12-assists in 14-games played and has been held off the scoresheet just twice all year. Runner-up: Daylan Marchi, Flin Flon.

IBAS SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Calvon Boots, Flin Flon Bombers
1998 D Calvon Boots (Fairbanks AK) scored 1-goal and 5-assists during this week’s four game road trip.  Boots is off and running with points in twelve of fourteen games on the year and leads all SJHL defensemen in scoring with 1-goal and 18-assists overall.  Boots got his first goal of the year on Friday at Notre Dame, as part of a 2-point performance. He also had two points on Saturday in Weyburn and book ended the week with single assist games.  Runner-up: Cody Spagrud, Battlefords.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:  Hunter Arps, Melfort Mustangs
1999 G Hunter Arps (Melfort SK) turned in a couple of stellar performances as teh Mustangs went 2-and-0 behind his solid work between the pipes.  Arps made 26-saves in recording a shutout against Nipawin on Friday night. He was right back in the crease on Saturday, on the road in Nipawin, and made 31-saves on 32-shots to allow the Mustangs to complete the sweep.  Arps is 5-1-and-1 overall with a 2.77-GAA and .911-SPCT. Runner-up: Pierce Diamond, Flin Flon.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Billy Klymchuk, Flin Flon Bombers
2000 F Billy Klymchuk (Winnipeg MB) got in on the act for the Bombers this week by scoring two goals and one assist during their four game road trip.  The Bombers won all three games in which Klymchuk found the scoring summary. He had goals Thursday at Notre Dame and Sunday in Estevan. He had an assist on Saturday in Weyburn and has 3-goals and 2-assists in 11-games on the year.  Runner-up: Eddie Gallagher, Estevan.
