QMJHL VETERAN ADDS DEPTH TO BOMBERS BACK END

Head Coach and GM of the Flin Flon Bombers Mike Reagan was busy ahead of the December 1st cut down date.

” We were able to sign free agent Tyler Higgins from The Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. At 6’4”, 230IBS he is going to bring a presence, and wealth of experience to our backend.” proclaimed Reagan.

He added;

“Having played 188 major junior games, Tyler’s going to make us a lot tougher to play against, and bring leadership qualities to our dressing room.”

It did not take long for Tyler to make his mark in the league, when at the  end of a power play in the second period, he scored his first ever SJHL goal.

He blasted a snap shot from the slot past Estevan’s goalie Grant Boldt, to break the tie. This goal would prove to be the game winning goal.

Halfway through the third period, Higgins would stand up for his new defence partner Calvon Boots, after Ripplinger delivered a hit to the head on the unsuspecting Boots. He received a roughing penalty, along with a 10-minute misconduct.

Pierce Diamond (Edmonton, AB), was perfect in the contest, stopping all 24 shots fired his way. This was his second SJHL shut out.

Flin Flon will face Nipawin, in Nipawin on Tuesday night, before heading home to the Whitney Forum for a much anticipated match up against the Humboldt Bronco’s.
