Brandon Lesko and Cory Thomas are one of three SJHL'ers to make the Canada West roster.

The Flin Flon Bombers are very excited to announce that 1998 born forward Brandon Lesko (Hafford, SK) and 1998 born defenseman Cory Thomas (St. Brieux, SK) have been named to Canada West for the 2016 World Junior A Challenge.

“We’re very proud to have both of our players make the team,” commented Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan, who also serves as an Assistant Coach on the team.

After not having one player represent the SJHL last season, Thomas and Lesko join Yorkton’s Regan Seiferling on this year’s team, whose looking to repeat as Gold Medal winners from a season ago.

“We’ve had two guys play on the team in the past, but never in the same season,” added Reagan.  “Both guys had great camps and definitely earned their spots on the team.”

Thomas has five points (1g, 4a) in 25 games so far this season and has been a big part of the reason the team sits third in the league with the fewest amount of goals allowed this season.

Lesko has 19 points (11g, 8a) in 23 games this season so far and has 45 points (19g, 26a) in 80 games played career, most of them as a 17 year old rookie last season.

Canada West opens up their Pre Tournament schedule on Friday when they take on Russia in St. Paul Albert.  They open up the tournament Sunday, December 11 when they play the Czech Republic.

The World Junior A Challenge is being held in the Bonnyville, AB and concludes on Saturday December 17th.
