The Bombers have acquired 1997 born centreman Shawn Weber from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons and future condiserations for defenseman Curtis Roach.

Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan is happy to announce the acquisition of 1997 born forward Shawn Weber (Lloydminster, AB) and future consideration from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL in exchange for 1997 born defenseman Curtis Roach (Saskatoon, SK).

Weber registered 23 points (13g, 10a) and 51 penalty minutes last season with the Oil Barons in 56 games.  In total, the 6’0, 176 pounder had 32 points (18g, 14a) and 96 penalty minutes over two seasons with Fort McMurray.

“We’re very excited to acquire Shawn,” commented Reagan.  “We were really looking for a certain type of player in return.  We felt we got that with his character, speed and experience with over 100 games of junior hockey.”

Roach appeared in 70 games with the Bombers over two seasons, registering 31 points (3g, 28a) and 64 penalty minutes.

“Obviously Curtis is a very good hockey player,” added Reagan.  “We have a lot of depth on the blueline and in order to gain pieces you have to give pieces up.  He needed a change of scenery.”

Reagan feels that Weber has a lot of upside offensively as well after playing on the Oil Barons top line last season.

“We feel that Shawn can score 20 goals for us this season, that’s not an unreal expectation.”
