Alex Smith receives RBC Player of the Year.

The SJHL and the Flin Flon Bombers are proud to announce that 1996 born Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) has been named the recipient of the 2015-16 RBC Player of the Year.

Sitting in the top 5 in most offensive categories, Smith has been the offensive leader for the Bombers this season, his second full campaign with the team after being acquired from the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL as part of the Dillan McCombie trade back in 2014.

Smith has 31 goals (7th), 52 assists (1st) 83 points (3rd) in 55 games this season to go along with 150 penalty minutes.

He was named the SJHL Canalta Hotels SJHL Player of the Week three times and was named the RBC SJHL Player of the Month once, recently in January when he racked up 24 points (9g, 15a) over 11 games.

Smith had a lot of scouts taking notice when after being offered multiple offers from NCAA Division I schools, he accepted a full scholarship to Michigan Tech.

Smith was up for the award against Estevan Bruins forward Darcy DeRoose and former Flin Flon Bomber Austin Calladine who plays for the Kindersley Klippers.
