1998 born Cory Thomas is the lone SJHLer picked to go to annual event.

The CJHL announced the rosters for their annual CJHL Prospect Game and Flin Flon Bombers’ defenseman 1998 born Cory Thomas (St. Brieux, SK) has been named as the lone representative of the SJHL.

“This is very exciting and a great opportunity for Cory,” commented Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan.  “Cory is an excellent defenseman and should have a great hockey career.”

Thomas, who is still eligible to play AAA Midget this season, has appeared in 22 games with the Bombers this season registering 1 goal and 3 assists.  The 6’5, 200 pounder played in one game with Flin Flon last season as a 16 year old as well.

He is coming off two seasons with the Tisdale Trojans of the SMAAAHL playing in 81 games over parts of three seasons where he finished up with 20 points (3g, 17a) and 20 penalty minutes.

The CJHL Prospects Game takes place on January 26th in Surrey, BC and was created to showcase the top NHL prospects in the CJHL as identified by NHL Central Scouting.  The game features players from the CJHL’s five western leagues (BCHL, AJHL, SJHL, MJHL, SIJHL) competing against player’s from the CJHL’s five eastern leagues (NOJHL, OJHL, CCHL, QJHL, MHL).

The last Bomber to take part in the CJHL Prospects game was Brett Boehm (Martensville, SK) who played in the event back in 2013 in Digby/Yarmouth, NS.
