Looking to continue their excellent play as of late, the Flin Flon Bombers (13-12-0-4) will play host to a pair of games at the Whitney Forum, their last two of 2015.
The Bombers, who are over .500 for the first time this season, who are coming off a pair of impressive wins last weekend against the visiting Nipawin Hawks (6-0) and Estevan Bruins (8-3), are 7-3 in their last 10 including a month of November that saw the club go 6-3-0-1.
The top line of Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB), Joel Kocur (Edson, AB) and Brandon Switzer (Brandon, MB) was reunited after being split up earlier in the month and have been the heartbeat of the success, but the secondary scoring has picked up. Smith picked up the SJHL Player of the Week this past week after contributing with 6 points (1g, 5a) in the weekend series.
Greyson Reitmeier (Nakusp, BC) a year removed from scoring 16 points (7g, 9a) in 48 games with the Melville Millionaires has 15 (7g, 8a) on the season, including 9 points (4g, 5a) in 12 games. Also chipping in is Jason Lavallee (Thetford-Mines, PQ) who has 14 points (5g, 9a) in 10 games since being acquired.
The newest member of the team, Rylee Zimmer (Russell, MB) has fit in nicely in the two games he’s played since being acquired from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the MJHL. The 1997 born forward had three points (2g, 1a) over the weekend.
The team will also welcome back 1996 born Zac Robidoux (Winnipeg, MB). Robidoux was one of six goalies trying out for Team West to play in the World Junior A Challenge, but was returned to the team after the roster was announced earlier in the week. Robidoux was away from the team for one game due to the camp and was replaced nicely by Brenden Newton (Medicine Hat, AB) who made 37 saves on 40 shots in the win against Estevan.
This weekend the Bombers will host the Yorkton Terriers (9-18-0-1) tonight and the Melville Millionaires (9-19-0-1) tomorrow (Game Time: 7:30 PM, Radio 102.9 CFAR Saturday Only). Both clubs are in the basement of the Viterra Division.
You would think with a combined total wins of 18, Flin Flon would be able to extend their two game winning streak, but in three games Flin Flon has played these two teams they are 1-2 with their lone win coming against the Terriers, a 4-3 shootout win back on October 16th.
The Mills have the Bombers number winning both games, one in Melville and one in Flin Flon.
After this weekend the team will hit the road for a four game in five night swing starting in Kindersley on Wednesday night before they take the Christmas break when they end things up back in Kindersley on Sunday December 20th.
