Flin Flon heads into the Showcase Weekend on a winning note after defeating the red hot Stars 8-4.

The Flin Flon Bombers will hit the SJHL Showcase, starting tonight in Warman, SK, riding a high note from the weekend.

After dropping their first four games to start the 2015-16 season, the Bombers doubled up the visiting red hot Battlefords North Stars, 8-4.

The Stars came into Flin Flon winners in six of their first seven games, allowing only 17 goals in that span, but the Bombers opened up with three goals in the first, one in second and four in the final frame.

Brandon Switzer (Brandon, MB) (2g, 1a) and Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) (1g, 2a) led all Bombers with 3 points each with the defensive pairing of Curtis Roach (Saskatoon, SK) and newly acquired Joseph Leonidas (Calgary, AB) each had two helpers.

Brenden Newton (Medicine Hat, AB) was solid in the pipes making his first start for the Bombers, making 39 saves.

Flin Flon now shifts his focus to the SJHL Showcase and a pair of games at the Legends Arena, Monday night against the Weyburn Red Wings (Game Time: 6:30 PM) and Tuesday against their first round opponents from last year the Notre Dame Hounds (Game Time: 4:00 PM).

ICE CHIPS:  The Bombers were 2 for 10 on the power play with the Stars scoring once on four attempts.  ---  Flin Flon had seven different players hit the sheet with rookies Brandon Lesko and Jon Marzec scoring their first Junior A goals.
