Flin Flon acquires RBC Cup winning goalie Zac Robidoux from the Portage Terriers.

Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan and the Flin Flon Bombers are happy to announce the acquisition of 1996 born goaltender Zac Robidoux (Morden, MB) from the Portage Terriers of the MJHL in exchange for the CJHL playing rights of 1995 born Logan Harland (Frenchman Butte, SK) and 1996 born Jesse Shynkaruk (Saskatoon, SK).

“We’re really excited to add Zac to our roster,” said Reagan.  “After we lost Simon we had a really inexperienced crease, with Zac’s experience in the WHL and with Portage’s run last season, he bolster’s that position.”

Robidoux split time between Portage and the WHL the past two seasons, where with the RBC Cup Champion Terriers the 6’3, 205 pounder went 5-1 with a 1.76 goals against average and a 0.927 save percentage in 7 starts last year.  Robidoux played in 13 games with Portage as a rookie going 10-3 with a 1.97 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.924 in 13 games.

He appeared in 4 games in the RBC Cup including the Semi Final and RBC Cup final winning both games, making 26 saves in the gold medal game.  He finished with a goals against average of 1.75 and a save percentage of 0.923.

He appeared in 22 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers and Lethbridge Hurricanes where he had a 3.37 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.886, most of them with a Hurricanes team that was second last in the league with 20 wins.

Logan Harland appeared in two games with the Bombers last season before leaving the team for personal reasons.  He also played in two games with the Acadia-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL.  Shynkaruk was recently acquired from the Kindersley Klippers in the Austin Calladine/Joel Webb deal.  He’s currently with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL.

Zac and the rest of the team will start Fall Camp next Thursday, September 3 at the Whitney Forum for two days before they play their first pre season game, at home against the Nipawin Hawks on Saturday September 5.
