1994 born defenseman Tyler Bell named one of three finalist for the IBAS SJHL Defenseman of the Year.

The SJHL released their nominees the league’s annual individual awards and one Bomber has been nominated.

1994 born defenseman Tyler Bell (Regina, SK) has been named the Sherwood Division’s nominee for the IBAS SJHL Defenseman of the Year award.

Bell came to the Bombers after being assigned by the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL in October and made an impact immediately helping the club become stronger defensively.  In his first two and half months with the team he had five points (3g, 2a) in 20 games before the Christmas break.

When defenseman Tanner Lishchynsky was called up by the Kootenay Ice of the WHL, Bell was looked upon to fill the void, and responded in a big way.  He put up 12 points (6g, 6a) in 12 games in January, picking up the IBAS SJHL Defenseman of the Month.

He’s continued his offensive output in February, collecting four more points (1g, 3a) in six games so far.  He was also named the IBAS SJHL Defenseman of the Week twice, while being looked at for his leadership and strong defensive play.

On the season Bell has 21 points (10g, 11a) in 38 games and 115 penalty minutes.

Bell is up against the Notre Dame Hounds Spencer Trapp and Estevan’s Zach Douglas.
