Flin Flon played three games this past week that was.

The Bombers dropped a home game to the Mustangs, swept a two game road trip and had a video go viral this past week.

Video Gone Viral:  The line brawl that happened on February 6 between the Bombers and the Melville Millionaires was recorded by local fan Chris Hannah and uploaded on YouTube, and this past week it caught the attention of TSN, Gongshow hockey and other media outlets.  Today it has been viewed by over 59,000 people.

Beukeboom Returns:  Goalie Adam Beukeboom returned to action after a six week leave of absence due to injury.  He came in against the Melfort Mustangs on Tuesday, making 12 saves on 14 shots.  He then got back to back starts on the weekend making 34 saves in Melville and following that up with 38 the next night for this fourth shutout of the season.  In total he has a record of 9-4 with 4 SO, goals against average of 2.35 and a save percentage of .930.

Playoff Positions:  After the weekend games, the Bombers are still tied with the Nipawin Hawks for fifth in the SJHL, three back of the Notre Dame Hounds.  All teams have played the same amount of games but the Hawks have more wins than the Bombers which mean they hold the tie break.

02/17/15 – 5-2 vs Melfort Mustangs:  Not a great start to the week for the Bombers as the league’s top team visited the Whitney Forum on Tuesday night.  Two goals in the first, three in the second and one more in the third had the Mustangs take a 6-2 win.  Simon Hofley (Ottawa, ON) started the game but was pulled in favor of Adam Beukeboom (Sundre, AB) after surrendering 4 goals on 14 shots.  The Bombers got goals from Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB) and Brett Kitt (Brandon, MB).  Brett Boehm (Martensville, SK), Danys Chartrand (Winnipeg, MB), Austin Evans (Whistler, BC) and Brandon Masson (Oak Lake, MB) all got assists in the loss.

02/20/15 – 4-2 @ Melville Millionaires:  It was a pretty tame return matchup between the Mills and Bombers, only 8 minutes of penalties were called.  After former Bomber Dalton Menke opened the scoring for the Mills, the Bombers got two goals in the second and two more in the third as they doubled up on Melville, 4-2.  Brett Kitt had a three point night with a goal and two assists.  Other goals came from Michael Knaub (Morden, MB), Austin Calladine (Saskatoon, SK) and call up Nick Shumlanski (Tisdale, SK) with helpers coming fromTyler Bell (Regina, SK), Robbie Cameron (Saskatoon, SK), Knaub and Masson x 2.  Beukeboom was solid making 34 saves on 36 shots.

02/21/15 – 1-0 @ Yorkton Terriers:  Despite being outshot 38-30, the Bombers squeaked out a 1-0 win against the defending RBC Cup Champions.  The score, and shots, wasn’t indicative of the actual play of the Bombers, who hit a few posts and a cross bar.  Beukeboom made 38 saves for this ninth win of the season and Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) got the game’s lone goal from Calladine and Bell.
