Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB) scored his league leading 33rd goal of the season, Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) and Brett Boehm (Martensville, SK) each added two assists and Simon Hofley (Ottawa, ON) made 31 saves for his second shutout of the season, as the Bombers blanked the visiting Battlefords North Stars, 4-0.
Rauckman opened the scoring on the power play at the 2:07 mark of the first from Boehm and Dean Allison (Surrey, BC) for the only goal of the first.
Micheal Knaub (Morden, MB) and Parker Evans-Campbell (High River, AB) each scored in the second, just 22 seconds apart just before the midway point of the period to make it 3-0 and to basically put the game out of reach.
Braden Lacoursiere (Unity, SK) and Smith picked up assists on Knaub’s seventh of the season with Tyson Empey (Swift Current, SK) and Joel Kocur (Edson, AB) assisted Evans-Campbell’s 10th of the campaign.
Hofley bounced back from his last start, one which saw the second year goaltender get yanked from the nets after allowing 4 goals on 20 shots, with the 31 save performance, including 13 in the third period. His record for the season is now at 16-10-5.
Austin Calladine (Saskatoon, SK) would round out the scoring on the power play, after some deliberation between the refs and the goal judge, with his 14th of the season from Boehm and Smith.
Flin Flon (25-9-6-6) now finds themselves tied for second in the Sherwood Division and fourth overall with the Nipawin Hawks, and out of the tie with the Notre Dame Hounds. They also increased their lead on the seventh place Stars by seven points.
