The Bombers finished up a home stand and went to Kindersley for a pair of games this past weekend.
Honorable Mention – Due to a five game winning streak, the Flin Flon Bombers received an honorable mention for the CJHL’s Top 20 Rankings. Two SJHL teams cracked the top 20, Melfort 8 & Kindersley 10. The Bombers haven’t been mentioned in the Top 20 since they hit #18 the first week of December.
01/13/15 – 6-3 vs La Ronge Ice Wolves: The team rounded out a four game home stand with a 6-3 win over the Ice Wolves, making it six straight games with a win. Six different goal scorers hit the shit, Michael Knaub (Winkler, MB), Tyler Bell (Regina, SK), Dean Allison (Surrey, BC), Brandon Switzer (Brandon, MB), Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB) and Parker Evans-Campbell (High River, AB) all scored. Newly acquired Brett Kitt (Brandon, MB) made his Flin Flon Bombers debut assisting on two goals. Evans-Campbell, Switzer, Knaub and Rauckman x 2 all had helpers. Brett Boehm (Martensville, SK) led the way with four assists.
01/16/15 – 2-3 @ Kindersley Klippers: The Bombers traveled to Kindersley to take on one of the league’s top teams for a pair of games on the road. Despite out shooting the Klippers, the Bombers dropped a close one, 3-2. Rauckman and Allison each scored for the visiting side with Allison, Boehm and Danys Chartrand (Winnipeg, MB) all picking up assists. Goalie Adam Beukeboom (Sundre, AB) started in the net but was pulled after the second due to an injury.
01/17/15 – 3-4 @ Kindersley Klippers: Rauckman would score two goals, including one with less than 1:30 left in the game to send it to extra time, but the Klippers beat Hofley twice in the shootout for a 4-3 win. Bell had the other goal for Flin Flon and Rauckman, Bell, Boehm and Allison x 2 all had helpers. Hofley made 36 saves in goal for the Bombers. For the second straight night Flin Flon outshot their opponents, this time 46-39 overall.
Standings Yo-Yo – The Bombers moved into second place in the Sherwood Division and fourth overall with a victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves. But with a pair of losses, one coming in a shootout, against Kindersley, they club is now back to third in the Sherwood and sixth overall in the league. They are two back of Nipawin in the division and one back of Notre Dame in the overall standings. If the playoffs started today, they would face off against the third seed, Melville Millionaires, which have 11 less points than Flin Flon, but are third because of their lead in the Viterra Division.
