Three wins, five new players and one trade deadline all happened this past week.

It was a big week for the Flin Flon Bombers as they played three games at home, welcomed back a player from their past and saw the January 10th trade deadline come and go.

Boehm Returns – 1994 born Brett Boehm (Martensville, SK), who was traded to Yorkton last season and had his rights dealt back as a stipulation in the deal, returned to the Bombers after leaving the University of Minnesota-Duluth.  Since his return, he has 1 goal and 3 assists in 3 games.  The team also had 1997 born defenseman Curtis Roach (Saskatoon, SK) re-assigned to the team from the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL.  Roach, brother of Josh who played with the team in 2012-13, has played in three games and is showing more and more confidence on the blue line since his re-assignment.

Trade Deadline – The January 10th CJHL Trade Deadline was in the week that was and Head Coach and General Manager wanted to make a few moves to add depth to his already impressive roster.  They added 1996 born forward Brett Kitt (Brandon, MB) from the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes, 1995 born defenseman Conner Veroba (Red Deer, AB) from the Yorkton Terriers in exchange for future considerations.  They also added 1994 born defenseman Cody Pettepiece (Saskatoon, SK) from the Weyburn Red Wings in exchange for a swap of draft picks.  Pettepiece will only be used in the event of injuries as he is committed to his PJHL team.

The team also let go of 1995 born forward Evan Akkerman, who later signed with the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders.

5 Straight – The Bombers played three games of a four game home stand last week starting on Sunday when they hosted the Humboldt Broncos and won all three, increasing their winning record to five straight.

01/04/15 - 2-1 vs Humboldt Broncos: Tyler Bell (Regina, SK) and Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB) each scored and Austin Evans (Whistler, BC), Dean Allison (Surrey, BC) x 2, and Brett Boehm all picked up assists.  Adam Beukeboom (Sundre, AB) made 42 saves for the win.

01/06/15 - 5-4 vs Melfort Mustangs: The league’s top team came to the Whitney Forum and for the fourth game between these two teams this season that went to extra time.  The Bombers blew a 4-1 lead but Dean Allison scored 3:35 into OT for the win.  Rauckman, Evans, Boehm and Brandon Switzer (Brandon, MB) all scored, with Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) Tyson Empey (Swift Current, SK), Parker Evans-Campbell (High River, AB), Austin Calladine (Saskatoon, SK) and Bell all added helpers.  Beukeboom made 37 saves for his seventh win of the season.

01/10/15 - 4-2 vs Notre Dame Hounds: Simon Hofley (Ottawa, ON) made 30 saves and Smith, Calladine, Rauckman, and Switzer each scored for the Bombers as they cruised to a 4-2 win over the visiting Hounds.  Switzer, Joel Kocur (Edson, AB) x 2, Boehm x 2, Evans-Campbell, Allison and Smith all added assists.  The win pushed the Bombers into second in the Sherwood Division and tied for fourth in the SJHL with Notre Dame.
