The holiday season is over, and it was time for the Flin Flon Bombers to get back to work last night, when they hosted the Humboldt Broncos for their first game of 2015.
Adam Beukeboom (Sundre, AB) stopped 42 of 43 Bronco shots and held a shutout for 59 minutes and 53 seconds before he was finally beaten, but helped the Bombers edge Humboldt 2-1.
Tyler Bell (Regina, SK) and Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB) each scored for the Bombers (18-7-5-4), who with the win moved to within three points of Nipawin for second in the Sherwood Division standings, and fourth overall in the SJHL.
Bell’s fourth of the season opened the scoring late in the first when he fired a shot from the point on the power play beating Broncos goalie Brock Hamm. Austin Evans (Whistler, BC) and Dean Allison (Surrey, BC) picked up the assists.
Allison would add another assist on Rauckman’s game winning goal in the third. Rauckman’s goal was his 23rd of the season. Returning forward Brett Boehm (Martensville, SK) also assisted on the goal when after breaking into the Broncos’s zone, made a move on the Humboldt defender and slid a pass into the slot for Rauckman to bang in the winner.
Humboldt’s Gray Marr’s goal late in the third was on the power play.
