The Flin Flon Bombers return to action tonight when they play host to Sherwood Division rivals, the Nipawin Hawks (Game Time: 7:30 PM), looking to snap a three game losing streak.
It was a tough week in the Flon, with the club losing three times in a row, after only having three losses in regulation to date.
It all started last Wednesday night when they dropped a 6-2 game to the Sherwood’s first place club in Melfort. At the time the team was two points back of the Mustangs for first in the division, but now sit eight back.
From there the club hosted two games on the weekend and after blowing a 4-1 lead in the third to Kindersley on Friday, and then despite out playing and out shooting Estevan on Saturday, they dropped both games and now find themselves in third place in the tough Sherwood Division.
Looking to right the wrongs starting tonight, Flin Flon (15-6-4-3) will try to jump back into second with a win over the Hawks (17-7-2-2) in their fourth meeting of the season. Nipawin sits one point up on Flin Flon.
The Hawks hold a 2-1 edge in the season series with two games going into extra time, including their last meeting on November 23 when the Hawks beat Flin Flon, 2-1 in overtime, in Nipawin.
This is the last home game in 2014 for the Bombers. After tonight they hit the road for four games starting next Tuesday to end the calendar year.
