Flin Flon hits the road for their first of three games in four night when they travel to Melfort.

After taking three of a possibly four points last weekend, the Flin Flon Bombers will look to a tough test tonight to start a three games in four nights set.

The Bombers hit the road for a matchup against a team some are pegging as one of the best in the Sherwood Division,  the Melfort Mustangs (Radio: 102.9 CFAR).

It’s no surprise that Head Coach and General Manager had his sights on 1994 born forward Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB) when he made the trade that sent star goalie Devin Buffalo to the Drumheller Dragons at the trade deadline.  Rauckman scored 33 goals last season in the AJHL, and so far in two games with his new team, has four, including a three goal night on Saturday in Nipawin.  Infact, his linemates, Parker Evans-Campbell (High River, AB) and Erik Pedersen (Airdrie, AB) had a good opening weekend when the trio combined for 14 points over the two game set.

Goalie Simon Hofley has continued his hot play from the end of last season.  The heir apparent to the starter job has faced 95 shots over two starts and has a 2.88 goals against average to go along with 0.937 save percentage.

The Mustangs are coming off a split of their own, after dropping their opening night against the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-2, but game back the next night and beat the same team 3-1.

The team has 17 returning players, including 11 1994 born players.  One of those players is goalie jack Romanuik.  Romanuik started the first game in La Ronge and had a rough outing but last season the Melfort native had a 2.56 goals against average and a 0.913 save percentage in 27 outings.

Forward Adam Fauchoux had three goals over the weekend and third year forward Cole Hyrsky had a goal and a helper in the two games.  In total, the Mustangs had nine different players hit the score sheet.

Flin Flon will head home after the game when they will host the Estevan Bruins and the Humboldt Broncos this weekend.

Game time tonight is 8:30.
