Filling the shoes of former SJHL Rookie of the Year and arguably last season's top goalie in the SJHL, Devin Buffalo is no small task. But Reagan feels that he has done that.
When he fired the trade at the January 10th deadline, sending Buffalo to the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL, Reagan received their leading goal scorer from last season in 1994 born forward Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB).
Rauckman (6'0, 185 pounds) had 50 points (33g, 17a) to sit in the lead in goals and third on the team in points last season with the Dragons. He picked up another 17 points (10g, 7a) in 17 playoff games.
"He's a pure goal scorer," commented Reagan. "We wouldn't be suprised if he scored 40 goals next season."
Rauckman scored 22 points (8g, 14a) in his rookie season in a tough AJHL, but he too brings another dimension to the Bombers.
"He has a great shot. Devin (Buffalo) said it could be the hardest he's faced as a junior," said Reagan. "But Chris is also a character guy, he's not afraid to get a little dirty and play in the tough areas."
There's also another element to the last two acquisitions made, Rauckman and Tanner Lomsnes are from the same hometown, Red Deer, AB and both forwards are friends and grew up together, adding a bit of build in chemistry.
Flin Flon still is owed two more players from the SJHL Trade Deadline. Along with one from Yorkton to finish the Brett Boehm deal, the club still gets to choose one more player from Drumheller after the AJHL Showcase.
