Well the regular season is over and a pair of Flin Flon Bombers have picked up some pretty well deserved awards.

On Tuesday, 1994 born defenseman Danys Chartrand (Winnipeg, MB) was named the SJHL’s Sherwood Division’s Best Defenseman for 2013-14.

Chartrand had a good season offensively chipping in with 22 points (8g, 14a) and 24 penalty minutes playing in every Flin Flon game this season, but it was his defensive play that helped the rest of the league take notice of the 6’2 rearguard.

On Saturday night Chartrand was named the Bombers’ Best Defenseman and MVP at the team’s awards night.  He’s has committed to the University of North Dakota for the 2016 season.

On Monday, 1995 born defenseman Rob Cameron (Saskatoon, SK) was named the SJHL’s Rookie of the Week for week ending March 3rd.  Cameron picked up three assists on Saturday night against the La Ronge Ice Wolves helping the team pick up a 6-1 win and clinching the final playoff spot.

Cameron also assisted on Flin Flon’s lone goal on Friday night against the Yorkton Terriers finishing up the week with four assists over two games.

Overall Cameron finished up the regular season with 13 assists and 27 penalty minutes over 53 games.
