It was Erik Pedersen’s third period goal that helped overcome a 3-1 deficit to lift the Bombers to a 4-3 comeback win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves, and help the club gain ground in the SJHL’s playoff race.
For Pedersen it was his second of the game, and his fourth over the weekend. The Bombers won two in a row for the first time since December, and are winners of three in their last five games after snapping a seven game losing streak.
The Ice Wolves would take a 2-0 lead before the 10:00 mark of the firs as Dayton Reinboldt and Tyson Valette each beating starter Simon Hofley. Hofley would make 42 saves in total for his seventh win of the season.
Pedersen would cut the deficit to one scoring his first of the game before the end of the first period.
The one goal lead was short lived as La Ronge’s Daulton Siwak put the lead back at two, beating Hofley 7:33 into the second period.
After Pedersen made it 3-2, rookie defenseman Dustin Perrilat fired a shot past Ice Wolves goalie Dasan Sydora, one of their 15 shots of the period.
Tyson Empey would score the game winner just past the midway point of the third.
The win helps the team gain some ground in the SJHL, Flin Flon now sits four points back of Nipawin who occupy the final playoff spot. But it doesn’t get easier for the club, as they travel to North Battleford Tuesday to take on the Stars before a return trip to La Ronge on Wednesday.
