Bombers still clingy to playoff hopes as they host Melfort tonight and travel to La Ronge tomorrow.

Ten games left, that’s all that remains in the regular season for the Flin Flon Bombers, who host the Melfort Mustangs tonight.

Ten games are all that remains for a team that is trying to clinch a playoff spot and it all starts tonight.

Flin Flon goes into this weekend’s action, which also includes a trip to La Ronge tomorrow night to tangle with the Ice Wolves, seven points back of the last playoff spot in the SJHL, which Notre Dame currently resides in.

Melfort sits in the the top spot in the Sherwood with 48 points, and in the valuable third seed if the playoffs were to start today.  They come into tonight’s game winners in seven of their last ten games.

The Bombers on the other hand have only one win in their last ten, and are coming off two straight losses, but they return to the Whitney Forum after a four game in five night swing.

These two teams have met five times this season with Melfort holding a 3-2 edge, one of those games were a Bomber win in extra time.  The last time these two teams met was January 22nd when Melfort defeated the Bombers 6-3 at home.

The Bombers do have some personnel changes tonight with forward Peter Poulin-Roy getting put on the shelf for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury and forward Austin Evans sitting out tonight and tomorrow game with a viral infection.

In are local products Evan Akkerman and Zack Garrett.  Akkerman has appeared in 24 games this season registering 3 points (1g, 2a) while Garrett has 58 points (31g, 27a) in 35 games with the Tri Town Thunder of the Prairie Junior Hockey League (Junior B).
