Two streaks continued after the weekend between the Flin Flon Bombers and the Battleford’s North Stars, Battleford’s winning streak and Flin Flon’s losing skid.
After getting shutout on Friday night 3-0, Flin Flon was looking to break their five game winless streak, but after taking a quick 2-0 lead, the Bombers were victims of a Luke McColgan goal with 1:57 left in the third period to lose their sixth straight, 4-3.
Danys Chartrand and Paul Soubry would put the Bombers out to a 2-0 lead before the four minute mark before the Stars scored two goals in the second to tie it up and then take the lead in the third period.
Austin Calladine would tie things up on the power play before the Stars scored for the win.
It was a chance for the Bombers to make up some ground in the fight for the final playoff spot, which they are looking out on right now. They are four points behind the Weyburn Red Wings and Notre Dame Hounds, both teams they face during their next road trip.
The team will now take to the road for four games in five nights starting Tuesday when they take on Yorkton before finishing up on Saturday in Estevan. They only have one home game, February 7th, in their next eight games.
