With the Trade Deadline behind them, the Flin Flon Bombers now shift their focus to finishing the season strong and making a playoff push.

Sitting tied for third place in the Sherwood Division and the Trade Deadline behind them, the Flin Flon Bombers now focus on finishing the season and making a strong run in the playoffs, a big feat some might think.

After trading away their top three point leaders and their number 1 goalie in the past month and a half, the rest of the SJHL believes the Bombers are in re build mode, but as they sit only four points back of first place Nipawin, the playoffs third seed isn’t out of the picture.  In fact, despite being below .500, the club is still sitting in a playoff spot as the season hits the final stretch.

If the playoffs started today, the Bombers would find themselves in ninth spot and would play the Melfort Mustangs in a best of five “Wild Card” series.  As of right now the two teams have played each other four times, each holding two wins, with four more to go.

The team has 19 games left in 2013-14 SJHL season.  Here’s a breakdown of the remaining games:

19 games left, eight at home and 11 on the road, 10 being against Sherwood Division opponents with five coming against Viterra Divison teams and the remaining four against the Kramer Division.

They have one last “Southern Swing”, which has the team playing four games in five nights against the Terriers, Notre Dame Hounds, Weyburn Red Wings and Estevan Bruins.  The team had a similar swing early in the season which team went 2-2 on.  The only change was they played Melville (26-9-2-2) instead of Weyburn (12-21-3-4).

The team plays their Sherwood Division foes a total of 10 times and with four points between last place and first, anything can happen in the next two months.  They play Nipawin and La Ronge three times each and the Melfort Mustangs four times.
