Hofley sharp as Bombers get back in the win column against visiting Red Wings

Rookie goalie Simon Hofley made his SJHL debut last night against the visiting Weyburn Red WIngs, and the Ottawa, ON native made the most turning aside 46 saves for his first junior win 4-1.

After two scoreless periods Brett Boehm would open the scoring just over three minutes into the third, taking a pass from Danys Chartrand and putting a shot off the far post to beat the Wings Ryan Parenteau.

Parenteau was solid in the Wing's goal, facing 44 Bomber shots in the loss.

Just under three minutes later, Dillan McCombie would score his first of two on the night, shorthanded with Landon Hiebert in the box.

Cam Blair would make it 3-0 with his third of the season, Blair would also pick up assists on McCombie's two goals to finish with three points.

Former Flin Flon Bomber Kyle Oleniuk would finally solve Hofley, with a deflection that would go over the goalie's shoulder through a crowd infront of the Bombers goal.

McCombie rounded out the scoring with less then a minute left in the game.

Next up is a four game in five night road trip starting on Tuesday in Melville before going on to Estevan, Weyburn and Notre Dame.

ICE CHIPS:  Flin Flon went 0 for 3 on the mad advantage to the Wing's 1 for 5.  They did have a shorthanded goal on McCombie's fourth of the season.  ---  Almost one year to the date, the Bombers went on a four games in five night swing of the south.  Last year they went 1 for 4 with their only win coming against the Estevan Bruins.  ---  In other Sherwood Divison action from last night, the Nipawin Hawks were defeated by the Battlefords North Stars 6-2 and the La Ronge Ice Wolves were finalled defeated this season, losing 5-3 against the Kindersley Klippers.  Flin Flon, Nipawin and Melfort are all tied for second place in the division with 6 points, the Ice Wolves are first with 12.
